Dava founded The Lashing in 2013. She has been a beauty professional since she began braiding hair professionally through college. Dava has a degree in Communications and worked as a media sales executive prior to opening her first salon in 2008. She is also and ordained minister and a religious scholar currently working on a PhD in comparative religions and metaphysics.

Déja is a skilled lash technician and makeup artist who has been honing her craft for the past three years. Her passion for beauty began at the young age of three, and she takes her work seriously. Despite her focus on beauty, she is also pursuing a college degree in anthropology, demonstrating her commitment to learning and exploring different fields.
